Baymills Resorts & Casino Starts Expansion of Northern Michigan

After years of planning, Baymills Resorts & Casino will launch an expansion project next spring. The $65 million project will provide guests with new amenities and space while creating new employment opportunities.

The expansion of the three-story waterfront resort will include 134 rooms with balconies, a deli, a spa with massage therapy rooms, a swimming pool with splash pads, a hot tub, a nail salon, a fitness center, an arcade, a conference area and a store. The staff lounge will also be equipped with a facelift, adding additional space and amenities for staff to relax and enjoy. Outside plans will include a new fishing piers, garden, gazette-boss, and outdoor patio, as well as marina upgrades. Bay Mills Resort & Casino will bid for the project this winter, with construction starting in the spring of 2023 and completing it the following year. DSGW is acting as the project's architect.

"Bay Mills Resort & Casino is well-loved by visitors," said Richard LeBlanc, general manager of Bay Mills Resort & Casino. "This expansion will allow us to take our guests one step further to meet their needs, while providing them with a unique experience at Lake Superior."

Bay Mills Resort & Casino, which opened in 1995, employs more than 200 people and features over 600 slot machines, eight table games, two restaurants, a golf course, a gift shop, a hotel, and an RV-park. The DraftKings Retail Sportsbook is expected to be completed in October and will include live sporting events, gameplay, and sports betting.

Owned by the Bay Mills Indian Community, the Bay Mills Resort & Casino is located on the upper level above Brimley's scenic lakeside drive. The Bay Mills Resort & Casino shares boundaries with the Hiawatha National Forest and is centrally located at many destinations in the upper level, such as Tahquamenon Falls, Su Rocks, Pt. Iroquois Lighthouse, numerous outdoor hiking and snowmobile trails, and beaches.
